Running... Going Nowhere

We can take lessons from the Church at Corinth.  Paul writes;

"2 Corinthians 6:12  You are not restrained by us, but you are restrained in your own affections."

After reading the first letter that we know as 1 Corinthians, we can tell clearly that this is a church that really struggled with basic things.  Moral issues...  traditional issues...  doctrinal issues...   I mean here is an example of "Church Gone Wild!"
So much so that Paul's second letter was tougher than most people realize.  The only other letter that we have that even comes close to the verbal whipping that Paul doles out to the Corinth church would be his letter to the church in Galatia.

I bring this to today.  So many of the issues that Paul had to contend with the Corinth church are the same issues that so many churches are struggling with today.  Why?  Because we really don't know the Scripture and ultimately we really don't even know God.  We must wake up and recognize the obvious.  The obvious can be found by opening up the Book and reading.  We have to quit looking for passages of Scripture that back us up...  make us feel swell...  and cause us to ignore the obvious because we can twist and tweak a particular Scripture to make us certain that what we are doing...  God is cool with it.  Problem is...  That is exactly what many have historically done and the wide path is the path this practice led them on.  As Paul often said...  do not be deceived..Put down our own affections and walk the path of righteousness.  It's difficult and the gate that it leads to is small.  Thing is...  that's the gate we are supposed to enter.
